Why specialised servers are needed
AI camera systems and end devices generate large volumes of data, but value only emerges at the processing stage. Ordinary commercial servers can meet the performance requirements, but they lack two things that security systems need: security at the hardware layer, and protection mechanisms for when the device is outside physical control.
Four layers of protection
- Full-disk encryption — data on the drive is meaningless if the drive is removed and taken elsewhere
- Multi-factor authentication — combining biometrics and hardware keys, not just passwords
- Hardware-layer malware protection — blocking threats before the operating system boots
- Physical tamper protection — the device locks itself or destroys data when unauthorised opening of the casing is detected
