Highlights
What sets it apart.
AI processing on the device (AI Edge) — recognition and door opening without an intermediate server
Face recognition in under 1 second, 99.9% accuracy at a 1/1000 ID ratio
Biometric anti-spoofing through liveness detection, which can block 2D photos and 3D masks
RGB and infrared lenses operating in parallel, scanning well even in darkness
Stores up to 50,000 faces directly on the device, independent of network connectivity
Two-way conversation with visitors at the door via the built-in speaker and microphone
Overview
Access Air NST GATE AI Access Control Device
Operating principle
When an authorised user approaches the door, the camera automatically recognises their face, matches it against the enrolled data and triggers the door to open in real time — no card, no fingerprint, no manual action.
The entire recognition process runs on the device itself rather than sending images to a server. This brings three practical benefits: the door can still open when the network connection is lost, biometric data does not leave the device, and latency is kept below one second.
Anti-spoofing
Face recognition alone can be fooled by a printed photo or a phone screen. Access Air NST GATE counters this with two layers:
- Dual lenses — one RGB lens captures colour images while an infrared lens scans depth. A flat image cannot produce matching depth data.
- Liveness Detection — analyses the characteristics of a real face, blocking both 2D photos and simulated 3D masks.
Connecting to existing systems
The device connects directly to electric locks, magnetic locks, turnstiles, barriers and automatic doors via relay contacts on the pigtail cable, forming an integrated access control system. The physical port group comprises Alarm / Relay / Push / Lock / RS485.
On the software side, the device pushes data over standard protocols — MQTT for real-time check-in logs, RTSP for video streams, HTTP API and Webhook for control — so it can be integrated into the time and attendance, building management, ERP or Smart Building systems that the organisation already uses.
Management software
- User list management: add, delete and update face data
- Role-based recognition settings: staff, visitors, partners, security guards
- Entry and exit history logs for retrieval, review and reporting
- Connection to other systems via API
Firmware and security support
The current firmware version for NST-AA-1000 is Access Mini – NST Edition 2.0.1.96.20260606 (released 6 June 2026). See the firmware lookup table for the latest version, or the update guide, which describes the procedure for loading firmware through the official management platform.
NST declares a period of at least 5 years of technical support, warranty and software updates, including cybersecurity patches where necessary, for the NST-AA-1000 device, counted from the date on which NST announces the end of commercial production of this product line. The end-of-production notice, if any, will be published on the firmware update notices page.
If you discover a security vulnerability in the device, please report it to NST’s vulnerability reporting centre.
Deployment notes
The device is designed for residential areas, offices and workshops — for installation indoors or under cover, not in locations directly exposed to rain and sun. The optimal scanning distance is 0.5 – 3.5 m, so the mounting position needs to be planned around the actual flow of people entering and leaving.
